Pressure Vessels
High pressure vessels in this range are non-stirred cylinders with a bolted or clamped head, built to hold gases, liquids or test specimens at pressure and temperature. They serve as static reactors, digestion vessels, corrosion test cells and charging tanks in petroleum, materials and chemistry laboratories. Coretest supplies the vessel with head fittings and optional stand, heater and controller.
What the range covers
- High Pressure Vessel LE100Ml to LE100l: 100 mL to 100 L, 100, 200 or 350 bar at 300 °C or 500 °C
- General Purpose Vessels GPV-4675, GPV-4750, GPPV-4700 and GPPV-4760, 22 mL to 5 gallon
- High Pressure Vessels HPV-4625 (600 and 1200 mL), to 5000 psi (345 bar), and Pressure Vessel Systems PVS-4600, PVS-4660, PVS-4790
- High Pressure/High Temperature Vessels HP/HTV-4650, HP/HTV-4680, HP/HT-4670 and HP/HTPV-4740, rated to 600 °C
- Non-Stirred Pressure Vessels, 500 mL to 20 L, to 300 bar and 350 °C
Engineering features
The pressure boundary is a cylinder and head in Type 316/316L stainless steel, with Alloy C-276, Alloy 600, titanium and zirconium for wetted parts. Laboratory vessels close with a split-ring or split clamp and compression bolts. The flat gasket sits in a recess in the head, confined by the cylinder lip: PTFE to 350 °C, flexible graphite to 600 °C. Gallon sizes can use a self-sealing FKM or FFKM O-ring instead.
The standard head carries a valve, pressure gauge, Alloy 600 rupture disc and thermowell, with up to 7 openings on laboratory sizes and 12 on gallon sizes for dip tubes, extra valves or cooling coils.
Heating is optional: a Calrod, ceramic fiber or three-zone band heater on a bench top stand, floor stand or cart, or a ceramic band heater on the LE series. A PID controller with high temperature alarm reads a thermocouple or Pt100 in the thermowell. Floor stands carry a pneumatic lift or hoist and a bottom drain valve option.
Selecting a configuration
A vessel is specified from the test it will contain. A proposal needs:
- Internal volume, and diameter or depth for specimens
- Maximum working pressure and temperature, combined or separate
- Medium: acids, chlorides, hydrogen or oxygen
- Head openings: valves, dip tube, cooling coil, transducer
- Heating: none, bench top heater, heated stand, or mantle
- Controls: gauge only, PID controller, or PC logging
- Certification: ASME U Stamp, PED, CRN, CE or CSA electricals
Typical applications
- Static, loop and electrochemical corrosion testing
- Hydrogen induced disbonding tests
- Acid digestion and pressure extraction
- Supercritical fluid extraction
- Gas or liquid storage and charging under pressure
