Trim Saw

The Trim Saw LETS is a benchtop saw that cuts core samples to preset lengths for core laboratory sample preparation. Adjustable machined spacers set the cut length, so a series of samples can be trimmed to the same dimension without measuring each one. It takes cores up to 2 inches in diameter, with standard lengths of 2 and 3 inches and other lengths on request.

How it works

A 200 mm (8 inch) blade, 2 mm thick, is driven by a 550 W motor at 3,000 rpm. The operator sets the spacer for the required length, places the core against it and feeds it into the blade. Preset length and feed are the two controlled parameters. The blade is lubricated with water, the usual choice, or with oil.

The saw runs on single-phase 220 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and is compact enough for a bench: 700 × 800 × 600 mm and 30 kg.
