Gas Pycnometer

The Gas Pycnometer (CT-PVT-GPYC) is a flow-through stainless steel vessel for capturing a gas sample for gas chromatograph (GC) analysis. Its volume is 75 cc and its maximum pressure 1,800 psi. Maximum temperature is ambient. The item sits in the Coretest phase behavior group, next to flash separators, gasometers and the GOR sample pycnometer used in reservoir fluid studies.

How it works

Gas enters and leaves the vessel through two needle valves. With both valves open, gas flows through the body. Closing them traps a sample, which then goes to GC analysis for composition. A burst disc protects the vessel against overpressure.

The controlled variable is the sampling sequence set by the two valves; the output is the captured gas sample itself. No heating is listed, so the vessel works at room temperature. Ratings, wetted materials and instrumentation are configured per project.
