Mechanical Sealing Stirred Half-pipe Coil Reactor

The Mechanical Sealing Stirred Half-pipe Coil Reactor (LEMSSHPCR) is an industrial-scale stirred pressure vessel with a half-pipe coil jacket, in volumes from 1,000 to 80,000 L. The vessel operates from vacuum (-0.1 MPa) to 20 MPa and from -196 to 350 °C. The agitator shaft passes through a mechanical seal; a magnetic seal is also listed. Charging is from above, discharge from the bottom.

How it works

The jacket is a half-pipe coil welded around the shell. Heating or cooling medium flows through the coil at high velocity and turbulence, so film coefficients and heat transfer rates are higher than in a conventional jacket. Contents heat and cool faster, the circuit drains faster, and batch time and energy use fall. Heating can be by thermal oil, steam, electric, electromagnetic or far-infrared heating, with heating power from 3 to 90 kW.

The agitator is driven by a general DC motor, DC servomotor or explosion-proof motor from 80 W to 125 kW at 0 to 1,200 rpm. The impeller is matched to the mixing duty: propeller, turbine, paddle, anchor, frame or ribbon type, or a special design. Wetted parts are stainless steel SUS304, SS316L, SS310S or 321, duplex 2205, titanium, nickel, zirconium, Hastelloy C-276 or C22, PTFE lining or cladding plate. Standard sizes run from 1,000 to 30,000 L; larger sizes are designed to order.
