Deadweight Pressure Gauge

The Deadweight Pressure Gauge (CT-PVA-DWG) is a primary pressure standard for high-pressure calibration in PVT and core analysis laboratories. It produces a known reference pressure from a calibrated mass acting on a vertically mounted, precision lapped piston-cylinder. Coretest lists it among PVT accessories together with gas boosters, pressure generator systems and cylinder heating trolleys, where it serves as the reference for checking transducers and gauges on that equipment.

How it works

The operator places a defined mass on the piston. Oil in the cylinder supports the loaded piston, so the pressure in the circuit equals the applied force divided by the effective area of the piston. The controlled variable is applied mass. The measured variable is reference pressure. An instrument under test is connected to the same oil circuit and its reading is compared with the reference value at each mass step.

The standard unit is a dual-piston, oil-operated gauge. Its working range runs from 1 bar (15 psi) to 1,100 bar (16,000 psi), with an accuracy of 0.015% of reading. Volume, pressure and temperature ratings, wetted materials and instrumentation are configured per project.
