UC-200 High-Speed Core Centrifuge
Coretest · core centrifuge
The UC-200 is the entry model of the Coretest centrifuge line. It drains liquid-saturated plugs with air or a lighter liquid in a series of speed steps and measures saturation by weighing each plug after every step. There is no camera and no software to maintain: the result depends on a laboratory balance and a clear procedure, which is why many laboratories use this method for water saturation end-points and plug preparation.
Three centrifuges, three levels
Coretest builds three core centrifuges for capillary pressure work. They differ in how saturation is read and in speed; pick the one that matches your test programme.

- Plugs are saturated, weighed and loaded into sealed holders; opposite or all holders are matched in mass.
- The rotor runs a speed step until liquid production stops, then stops.
- Each plug is taken out, weighed and returned; the mass change gives the average saturation for that step.
- The next, higher speed step follows. A program keeps up to 10 steps with their speed, time and temperature.
Capillary pressure at the inlet face of the plug for each step: Pc = ½ · Δρ · ω² · (r₂² − r₁²), where Δρ is the density difference of the fluid pair (kg/m³), ω = 2π · rpm / 60 (rad/s), r₂ the radius of the plug outlet face and r₁ = r₂ − plug length (m). The outlet face is at Pc = 0.
Rotor and holders
The rotor is fixed, with radial holders. In each holder the plug sits on a perforated support with drain tubes; displaced liquid collects in a cup at the outer end and cannot flow back into the plug when the rotor stops. Rotors are built for 1 in or 1.5 in plugs; the rotor layout drawing with the plug face radii is issued for approval before manufacturing.
