Blind Flange Class 300-Class 2500
The blind flange is a solid round forged disc that closes the end of a flanged pipe, nozzle or vessel opening. It is made to ANSI B16.5 in pressure classes from Class 300 to Class 2500 and nominal sizes from 1/2 in to 24 in, forged from stainless steel SS316 or SS304, with a raised face (RF) sealing surface and bolt holes for screwed connection to the mating flange.
How it works
The flange bolts to a mating flange of the same size and class with a gasket between the raised faces. Bolt load compresses the gasket and the joint holds line pressure; the class is chosen from the pressure and temperature of the line. Because the blind has no bore, it terminates the line or blanks a nozzle and can be removed later when the piping is extended.
