Atmospheric Flocculation Titrimeter (ASTM D7157)

The Atmospheric Flocculation Titrimeter (model CT-FA-AFT) determines the stability of crude oils and their blends by the automatic solvent titration method of ASTM D7157. It is used in flow assurance and asphaltene studies to predict the stability of a crude or a blend against asphaltene flocculation before oils are mixed, transported or processed.

How it works

A sample is placed in the 100 ml vessel and stirred magnetically. The titrant pump adds solvent at a controlled rate of up to 10 ml/min at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. A UV-visible detector follows the optical signal of the sample during titration, and the onset of flocculation is detected from the change in that signal. The titration sequence runs automatically and the instrument reports the stability and flocculation parameters defined by ASTM D7157.

Wetted parts are stainless steel. The instrument is supplied for 220 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase.
