Overburden Spontaneous Imbibition and Drainage System
The Overburden Spontaneous Imbibition and Drainage System LEOSID determines the end points of spontaneous drainage and spontaneous imbibition curves on a core held under overburden stress. These end points are used together with forced-displacement curves in wettability evaluation. The overburden load keeps the sample under a stress state that reflects reservoir conditions.
How it works
The saturated core, 1 or 1.5 inches in diameter and up to 3 inches long, is placed in the cell and loaded to an overburden pressure of up to 10,000 psi. It soaks in the test fluid at ambient temperature. The fluid expelled from the core collects in a burette with a readable volume of up to 20 cc, and core saturation is resolved to 0.1 cc. Overburden stress and soak conditions are the controlled variables.
A fluid brushing mechanism speeds up the expulsion, so the test is shorter than a standard Amott test. The expulsion itself stays spontaneous, driven only by molecular attraction forces. The standard system tests one core; up to six cores can be run at the same time on request.

This description defines the product family. Guaranteed performance, included hardware, exclusions, interfaces and acceptance criteria are stated only in the project-specific technical proposal and approved datasheet.
Features
- Number of core samples: 1 (up to 6 upon request)
- Core diameter: 1" or 1.5 " (other upon request)
- Core length: up to 3"
- Overburden pressure: up to 10,000 psi
- Temperature: ambient
- Readable burette volume: up to 20 cc
- Core saturation accuracy: 0.1 cc Power supply: 110-220 VAC 50/60 Hz
Benefits
- Overburden pressure testing conditions reflect reservoir conditions.
- Faster than standard Amott test. The fluid brushing mechanism accelerates the expulsion process, purely from molecular attraction forces.
- Simultaneous core sample processing available upon request.
