Manual Saturator

The Manual Saturator CT-PREP-MSAT saturates clean, dry core samples with water, brine, oil or another liquid before permeability, resistivity and capillary pressure testing. The sample is first evacuated, then the saturant is admitted and pressurized. Vacuum and pressure cycles remove trapped air so that the saturation state is repeatable.

How it works

Samples are placed on a loading carrier and lowered into a 316 stainless steel cell of 58 mm diameter and 300 mm height. The cell is closed and pumped down to vacuum. Saturant is then admitted and the pressure is raised by hand to the required saturation pressure, up to a maximum of 2,000 psi. The controlled variables are vacuum and saturation pressure; the measured result is the saturation state of the sample. Dead volume sets keep the quantity of saturant to a minimum.

The standard cell takes plug size samples. A full size core option is available, and other wetted materials can be supplied on request. Automated and overburden saturators from the same range cover routine bench work through reservoir-pressure saturation.
