Waterflood Core Flood System
The Waterflood Core Flood System is an automated core flooding apparatus for evaluating and optimizing secondary recovery by waterflooding. It measures oil displacement and recovery efficiency as injected water sweeps a core sample held under confining stress. Reservoir engineering and EOR laboratories use the production and pressure data for relative permeability, residual oil saturation, injection design and recovery forecasts.
How it works
The core, 1.5 inch diameter and 4 to 12 inches long as standard, is loaded in a horizontal core holder. Confining pressure up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) is applied around the sleeve and pore pressure up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) is set on the fluid system, at working temperatures up to 150 °C. The core is brought to the required initial saturation, then water is injected at the programmed rate. Produced fluids are collected and the recovered oil volume is recorded against injected volume, while the differential pressure across the core is logged. Confining and pore pressure, temperature and water injection are the controlled variables; recovery and differential pressure are the measured outputs.
Wetted parts are Hastelloy for compatibility with brines and crude oils. The system runs on 220 VAC, 50 Hz and requires an air supply at 7 bar (100 psi). Pressure and temperature ratings, wetted materials, modules and instrumentation are set for each project.
