HPHT Interfacial Tension Meter

The HPHT Interfacial Tension Meter (model CT-EOR-IFT) determines the interfacial tension between two fluids, or the surface tension of a single fluid, at reservoir-representative pressure and temperature. It is used in EOR and reservoir fluid studies where fluid-fluid tension has to be known at the conditions of the reservoir rather than at ambient conditions.

How it works

The test fluids are loaded into a measuring cell rated to 700 bar (10,000 psi). Cell pressure and cell temperature are the controlled variables. The temperature range runs from ambient to 180 °C with a stated accuracy of 0.1 °C. A drop of one fluid is formed in the second fluid inside the cell, and the drop image is processed by the drop analysis software, which returns the interfacial or surface tension. The standard measuring range is 0.1 to 72 mN/m.

Wetted parts are stainless steel as standard. A Hastelloy option is listed. The instrument is supplied for a 220 VAC, 50 Hz supply.
