Chemical Flooding Core Flood System
The Chemical Flooding Core Flood System (CT-EOR-CHEM) performs chemical flooding experiments on core plugs, including polymer, alkaline-surfactant and foam flooding, at up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) confining and pore pressure and 150 °C. Displacement is run under reservoir conditions to evaluate polymers, surfactants and alkalis that mobilize trapped oil; the results guide slug design and recovery prediction for chemical EOR.
How it works
The core, 1.5 in diameter and 2 to 6 in long as standard, is held horizontally in a core holder with three pressure taps along its length, so that pressure drop can be followed in sections as the chemical slug advances. Confining pressure, pore pressure, temperature and chemical injection are the controlled variables. Recovery and effluent chemistry are the measured results. Wetted parts are Hastelloy. The system runs on 220 VAC, 50 Hz and needs compressed air at 7 bar (100 psi). Other core sizes and tap counts are supplied on request. An HPHT foam analyzer is offered alongside the system for foam stability work.
